Meet the Team

Trustees oversee the running of NMVB and ensure that it meets all its obligations as a registered charity. We also ensure we have the correct policies and procedures in place and that we support the staff as responsible employers.

It is not nearly as dull as it sounds, and we are a friendly bunch, meeting between 4 and 6 times a year, plus at volunteering events such as the volunteers Christmas lunch.

NMVB welcomes new trustees and would love to hear from anyone who would like to know more about what it involves. There are no qualifications or experience necessary, just some common sense and a positive attitude. Do get in touch for more information.

Libby Allison Chair of Trustees

My involvement with NMVB goes right back to 2001 when I was appointed as the bureau manager, a job I held, and thoroughly enjoyed, for nearly 9 years. I then went on to work for Powys County Council. I was invited back as an NMVB trustee in 2015 and am the chair of the board. My role as chair is to oversee the running of the bureau (and to make sure we have biscuits at meetings).

Having been the manager I am well placed to understand the workings of the bureau and have a good knowledge of the voluntary sector in Powys and beyond. I believe passionately that volunteering is of huge benefit to both the individual and their community. It is humbling to see the amount of time, energy and commitment that the people of North Montgomeryshire contribute to their community.

Gillian Foulkes

I have been a Trustee of NMVB for about 10 years. I enjoy being a part of something which is such a great help to the local community.

Jeanne T Spinks

Jeanne started volunteering for the Trust as a Volunteer Driver and became a Trustee in 2018. Jeanne also volunteers for the Mass Vaccination Centre in Newtown.

Office Team

Sharon Baines

Office Manager

Hello, my name is Sharon and I have been with NMVB since 2002.

I joined NMVB as an apprentice, completing my NVQ Level 2 & 3. I become a member of staff in 2003 as the Transport Administrator. My current role involves supporting members of staff and volunteers. I seek out suitable opportunities for volunteers whilst also supporting other Organisations, Groups and Local Authorities.

I feel very privileged to be working with Volunteers. I have made many friends and have met lots of interesting people from different walks of life. The voluntary sector has changed a lot over the last twenty years and the need for volunteers has continued to grow. Volunteers work on the frontline and behind the scenes, keeping organisations moving forward, and adapting to fill the gaps of need within the community. The most important thing for me is that we continue to work together to make our community a better place for everyone.

Melanie Williams

Transport Administrator

I joined the bureau in June 2017 as Transport Administrator for the Community Car Scheme, which is run by the bureau. My role involves organising transport for local people to enable them to attend medical appointments, social events and also shopping. Transport is provided by our wonderful team of volunteer drivers who I thoroughly enjoy working alongside.

I enjoy the contact I have with our service users, who are always very grateful for the help they receive via the car scheme. Working in the volunteer sector is extremely rewarding and I really admire all our volunteer drivers who give their time to support people in the local community.
